Hiring someone to SEO Optimise your Website When working on your website and the SEO techniques, you may feel completely overwhelmed with all the options and think about hiring someone to do the work for you. If you decide this is the route to go, then there are some things you need to consider and discuss when picking out someone to do the work for you. First of all, what sites have they worked on before and have they had success with SEO techniques? Have they done a website in the same industry as you before? You will want to contact some of the people that they have worked for to get a reference as to how easy they were to work with, how well the SEO techniques worked, and how quickly the work was finished. Make sure it is okay with the contractor that you do this. What is their education or experience in the field? There is nothing wrong with someone who didn't take formal schooling, as sometimes you learn more on the job, but you likely don't want someone who is brand new and has only read one e-book on SEO techniques. Ask them about continuing education, as the internet is constantly changing and a person needs to read to keep up with the technology and SEO techniques. What is the cost for the work to be done? What exactly is included in the price and how long will the work take? Is it simply using keywords on the site, or do they also provide you with some advice in regard to other aspects such as advertising beyond the website? Ask them about what they feel are the most important SEO techniques, as you want to make sure that you are on the same page as the person working for you. Of course, if you are clueless about SEO, this may not matter to you. Before you let the contractor into your site, and have access to your passwords, make sure that you are both in full agreement as to what work they will be doing, and how things will look at the end. Make sure that both parties agree on the work to be done to make sure the results are what are expected. How will they communicate with you - email, phone, Skype or other online method? Regardless, make sure the contractor knows the best way or time to contact you depending on the method. When they have an issue you want them to be able to get a hold of you in a timely manner, as otherwise it may slow down the work and cause the work to be done later than you want.
While you may feel you have the skills to learn how to use SEO techniques yourself, sometimes you may find it worthwhile to hire someone else, especially when first setting up your website and you have a million other things to focus on. Remember, no one can guarantee you the top rank on any search engine; that only comes with time and work.
