Why are you in Business?
Customers causing you grief, the hassles of sporadic cash flow, buying the right stock, never being able to really switch off thinking about the business. These are just a few of the less appealing factors of running some small businesses.
So have you ever asked yourself the question "why do I do this?"
If you have, I want you to consider that the answer you gave may not be as empowering as it could have been.
Knowing why you are in business is one of the most important questions you want to be delving into on a very regular basis. Why do you work those long hours, why do you put up with all of those areas mentioned above.
Remember, business is merely a vehicle to get you to where you want to go. So where do you want to go? Is it spending more time with your loved ones as opposed to somebody else's? Is it going on overseas holidays versus staying at an interstate caravan park? Are you happy with the car you drive or the house you live in? Do you want to retire early?
What ever it may be, keep it clear in your mind, construct a vision board, test drive that new car, go and inspect those new houses, call in and see the travel agent. Keep it somewhere you can see it regularly, so when comes time to make that next sales call or deal with one of ‘those' types of customers, you know exactly ‘why' you are doing it.
My challenge to you... make a list of 100 things that you want to achieve in your life. And I want you to write this list as if time and money wasn't a determining factor. How big do you see it?
